Homecoming & Owen's First Party

Owen stretched his actual arrival until just after midnight, we got an "extra" day free in the hospital.  We weren't planning to take it but the nurses wanted to make sure he was eating enough to not lose too much of his birth weight (normal size newborns lose up to 10% and its not big deal but that's too much for a little guy like Owen)...he dropped a few ounces on day 1 then gained back 1 ounce on day 2 so they were happy and Monday afternoon we came home.  Sapphire greeted Owen with curious but friendly sniffs then she continued to follow him around the house and keep a close eye on him.   Settling in at home was pretty easy as Owen still sleeps 100% of the time when we are not forcing him to be awake for eating.  We are trying to enjoy this relative peace and quiet as we know it will not last.

Our neighborhood had planned a small shower for us on Monday night.  We called to let them know that Owen had not factored there plan into his arrival plans and we planned to send Matt as the family representative.  However Owen was just fed and happily asleep so we decided he could handle the 10 house walk and a few minutes to let people greet their newest neighbor.  We wouldn't let anyone hold him yet but everyone enjoyed a peek and he sleep happily in Gramma's arms while we opened some gifts and enjoyed some cake.   He was a bit of a snooze at his first party but we had fun!

PS I'm now writing this from our Mac and having trouble with formatting.  Next feeding is approaching so I'm not messing with it any more...you'll have to read the story carefully and try to match up the pictures :)
