Rugrat's negative 9 months to negative 1 month

We decided a little late that this was a blog would be a great idea. Hope you enjoy the recap and we'll try to be more proactive once the rugrat is outside the womb! Now if only I knew when that would be - the due date count is at 25 days!

Pregnancy Recap
We found out we were expecting in
mid January, the day before Matt left for Europe for 1 month for work. It was a long month as "sesame seed", and later "blueberry", made me kinda sick and it was a hard secret to keep. We got a sonogram at ~ 6 weeks to set an accurate due date - really just looked like a blob but a very cute blob. Countdown to September 26 begins!

Valentines day we sent packages to our families to break the news. All the packages said "do not open until at least 6pm."
Here's were the responses:
5:59 Jen called - cheater! She said "WHAT??" and then congrats
6:07 Grampa Doug called from his commute to say that Mary Ann had opened the package right on time and called him with the news. He ask (jokingly?) if we were surprised and then offered congrats as well.
6:35 Gramma Cher & Bob & Whitney & Brian all called. They had decided to open their gifts together before a shared dinner and (as usual) Whitney was running a little late. They were all very excited and Cher swears she figured out the little surprise while they were waiting but we don't really believe her.
9:15 Gramma & Grampa Wasson called. They obviously had no idea what big news the box contained and enjoyed their dinner out before opening. They were extremely excited to finally join all their friends in the "grandparents club".

A few weeks later we shared our news with friends and co-workers and got to start here the famous "you have no idea how much your life is going to change". we believe you, really we do, but since we have no idea is there really a point to telling us?? Although I'm sure we'll be guilty of saying the same thing in the near future....

At 20 weeks we got the much awaiting sonogram when it starts to look like a real baby. Plus we get our early surprise of "blue" or "pink". And blue it is....it was pretty easy to tell so Matt's pretty proud of that! At the same session we got our most exciting sonogram picture yet - not the one that said "it's a boy" but the one that says "it's a soccer player". Yes that is his little foot and he's practicing his kicks at 20 weeks (that's a big of tissue that he's using as a ball - thanks a lot buddy!)

I won't say that the pregnancy has been all fun and games but we feel very blessed that it has been uncomplicated and has gone by pretty quickly. The Rugrat has been a trooper so far and his mom has tried to be one too (see next post for the world tour stops).
